Your quality of sleep impacts every area of your life. Because sleep is something everyone needs, few would disagree that sleeping well is not only beneficial but necessary! If you followed the tips in our post “The Secret to Sleeping Better in Two Simple Steps”, then you should already be seeing improvements in the quality of your sleep. However, poor sleeping patterns are habits we have formed over a long period and it may take a while to establish healthier habits. Here are four more tips to help you sleep better every night!

Electronic devices negatively affect sleep

Four Tips To Establish A Healthy Sleeping Pattern:

  1. Shut It Off: One of the biggest hindrances to good quality sleep is your electronic devices such as phones, tablets, computers and T.V. Because each of these has a bright screen, they stimulate your mind and cause it to stay active when you are trying to sleep. Instead of using these devices to relax in the evening, try turning them off an hour before bed and reading a good fiction book. It will calm your mind and prepare you for sleep.
  2. Make It Dark: Ambient lighting from electronic devices, alarm clocks and outdoor lights can fill your room at night and negatively impact your sleep quality. Try removing as much ambient light as you can to make your room as dark as possible. You can also install dark colored curtains or even black out curtains to take your room darkness to a new level!
  3. Cool Down: There is a reason bears hibernate in winter. Cold rooms improve sleep quality by helping you sleep deeper. Make your room as cold as you’re comfortable with to get a better nights sleep.
  4. Set Your Alarm: One of the most overlooked aspects of a good sleeping pattern is going to sleep and waking up at the same time every day, including weekends. When we change the times we sleep and wake from day to day our sleep quality goes down. One of the fastest ways to develop a healthier sleeping pattern to start going to sleep and waking up at the same time every day. Healthy sleeping habits improve your quality of life
