People living life together
People make each city unique. Some are beautiful for the similarities the people share while others because of the diversity they possess. While there is good in every community, each also has its share of ways it can improve. As the saying goes, if your not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem.
Sadly, it’s common for people to stand by and complain about the problems they see, but remain passive. We forget the community isn’t defined by location, but rather, by the people who are a part of it. This is good news because many of the problems we face can be solved by working together to create change!
Everyone has something to offer, including you!
You have been given a unique set of talents or life experience that could benefit others.
As the holiday season draws close, look for ways you can improve your community by being the change you want to see! Get involved as more than just a resident. Are the youth lacking a safe place to spend time? Consider starting a weekly event for them at your local meeting center or non-profit facility. If education is struggling in your area, ask the local schools or library if you can volunteer an hour or two each week to tutor students in a subject you’re able to. Is there a need to clean up the public grounds and facilities? Organize a volunteer work day and ask local restaurants to sponsor it by providing food and water.
You could also consider joining efforts currently underway. There may be organizations working to solve some of your problems, and they just need helping hands to carry it all out. Check your local chamber of commerce or nonprofit organizations to see what is going on that you can participate in.
No matter what issues your community may face, find ways to get involved and be the change you want to see! That will make every day a great day for you and your neighbors!
